Committing to Failure

I thought I had it,
I thought I knew.
For months now,
I thought I was
in the clear.
But it came
to test my skill
and I failed.
Just as I had failed
so many more before.

The rules I managed
the rules I forgot.
My memory fades,
my confidence too.
In the end, I had
the rules wrong too.

So's more of the same
of my inability.
